Deleting your Whim account
Effective date: 9 September 2026
Whim is operated by Tevlix LLC. This page explains how to delete your Whim account and everything in it, what that removes, and what it does not. It is the same action described under "Retention and deletion" in our Privacy Policy.
The fastest way: in the app
- Open Whim.
- Go to settings (the sliders icon at the top of your dashboard).
- Choose delete my account and confirm.
That is the whole process. It happens immediately, it cannot be undone, and it does not need our involvement or yours to wait on us. If you share any pockets with other people, Whim tells you how many that affects before you confirm.
If you can't open the app
Email us at support@tevlix.com from the address you use to sign in to Whim, and ask us to delete your account. We will do it and confirm when it is done.
One honest limitation. Whim signs you in anonymously by default — most accounts have no email address attached to them at all, which is deliberate and is why you can use Whim without telling us who you are. It also means that if you never added an email address and can no longer open the app, we have no way to tell which account is yours, and no way to delete it on request. In that case the account is removed on its own: see "If you simply stop using Whim", below.
What deleting your account removes
- Pockets you created, along with every item, note, link and pick record in them. If you shared a pocket, deleting your account deletes it for the other people in it too.
- Your memberships of pockets other people created, so those pockets disappear from your dashboard. The pockets themselves carry on without you.
- Your settings, any pending invites you created, and your sign-in identity — including your email address and password hash, if you set them.
- Any notification tokens for your devices, along with anything queued to be sent to them.
What it does not remove
- Items you added to somebody else's pocket stay in that pocket, no longer connected to you or to any account. They belong to the shared space, and withdrawing them would take them from the people still using it.
- Anonymous usage counts, if you ever turned them on. They were never attached to your account and carry no account identifier, so there is nothing to look them up by — not for you, and not for us. Turning the setting off stops further collection and discards the anonymous identifier used up to that point.
- Deleted content may persist briefly in routine encrypted backups before being overwritten.
If you simply stop using Whim
You do not have to do anything for an unused account to go away.
- An account nobody opens for 18 months is deleted, along with everything in it — the same things, in the same way, as deleting it yourself.
- An account that never had anything put in it — no pockets, no items — is cleared after 30 days instead.
Opening the app counts as use, and so does making, editing, drawing from or joining anything. Because most accounts are anonymous and have no email address, we cannot warn you before this happens. Please treat it as a real limit: if the only copy of something lives in Whim on a device you have stopped using, that copy will not last forever.
There is one deliberate exception. If an inactive account created a pocket that is shared with someone else, we do not delete that account at all, however long it stays quiet — deleting it would take the pocket off the other person's dashboard too, and one person going quiet must never do that to somebody else.
